And this means a love-or-hate kind of watch. It’s not just a dial, but the entire habillage of the watch that has been treated the Bamford way. Back in 1969, Zenith was one of three brands to release automatic chronograph movements that year. Zenith introduced the Chronomaster Revival A384 to celebrate the El Primero movement’s 50th anniversary back in 2019.
With its retro-futuristic styling, timeless proportions and emblematic chronograph calibre, the A384 is the final piece in the El Primero 50th Anniversary Revival series. Ah, another much-beloved watch among the team at Fratello HQ. While the first collaborative watch launched by Zenith x Bamford for MR PORTER was already quite unique in terms of design, with its gradient blue dial punctuated by white marking radiating at its periphery (something that is Bamford’s signature touch), this new take goes several steps further in terms of customisation. More than just a vintage inspired watch, the Revival is a historically accurate recreation of one of the most emblematic chronographs ever made. Meet the El Primero Revival A384 “Edge of Space”. Having already collaborated last year on the cult chronograph, Zenith, Bamford and MR PORTER are doing it again this year with a surprising (or any word you want) take on the vintage A384 watch. This has meant multiple re-editions and limited editions based on this movement, from faithful revival watches to more “special” takes on this watch. Today Zenith releases another revival of the A384 decked out in red, white and blue exclusively for the North American market in a limited run of 150 watches. As you have probably seen (if you’re into watches, you must have seen it), this year was the 50th anniversary of one of the most legendary movements ever, the El Primero – one of the first automatic chronographs launched.
